The Cause

The American Widow Project (AWP)

Since 2001, over 6,600 United States service members have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. This number does not include the thousands more who have lost their lives because of sudden illness, accidents, homicide, or the estimated 23 military suicides per day.

The American Widow Project (AWP) has served over 2,200 military widows since this organization was founded in 2007 by Taryn Davis, who lost her husband while he was serving in Iraq. AWP provides support to widows via programs designed to educate, empower, inspire, and assist in rebuilding their lives in the face of tragedy.
